Terrorism and Indian politics

Terrorism. This is the latest menace that is hurting India now. Just taking stock of the events that happened over this year, it gives a clue on how entrenched terrorism has become in this part of the world. According to me, terrorism has no caste, religion or any other 'community' association, it is quite far from that. The only intention is to menace people into insecurity. ie., there are no 'Islamic terrorist' or 'Hindu terrorist', they are just merely 'terrorist'.

Btw, what do these terrorist want by killing tens or hundreds of innocents? What is the point they are trying to prove? If their sole aim is to divide the India, the country, into pieces, what DO THEY GET out of it?

What is hurting me more than the terror exploits is the petty politics that our political leaders are playing. After every blast, the opposition party (BJP) says the same stuff (UPA government is ineffective in handling terrorism.. blah blah) and the ruling party comes up with its own versions strongly condemning the acts . These condemning speeches from the ruling party of terrorist actions has become a butt of joke. We don't need your messages Mr. Home Minister and Mr. Prime Minister. We want ACTION! We want to live peacefully in this country.

As if these terrorist strikes are not enough, there are others who have started their own attacks. I'm talking about the Kandhamal and Karnataka incidents, which happened in the name of forced religious conversions (rather against it!) and the more recent 'Drive out North Indians from Mumbai' by Mr. Raj Thackarey. This has cascaded in the 'North Indians' (Bihar, UP etc.,) taking 'revenge' acts and what not.

Although, I have my own reservations on the forced conversions of religions, I'll leave it to a new post. On the 'North Indian divide'... please please, this is one India, a democratic one at that. Here, by constitution, a person has the right to settle down in whichever part they want to. Banning entry of people into a state is anti-constitutional and is like interfering in one's fundamental right. Anyone, who spreads violence such as this is deemed to be a terrorist.

I think all our political leaders know this and I wonder why they aren't acting on this. There are political compulsions (vote bank!) that are making them inactive. I even read some Congress party workers supporting the 'Anti North Indian' motion. This is cheap politics. Our country's main strength is the 'Unity in Diversity' mantra. We are different in culture, language, religion, caste etc., yet we are united. By driving these divisions (based on religion, language, community, caste etc.,) these so called leaders are disrupting the 'unity' part of the mantra.

I urge the law enforces to be brutal and take extreme actions against these terrorists. Let all the 'leaders' talk in one lingo.. Terrorism is BAD. You can't justify any bombing and killing of innocents. Stop your petty vote bank politics, the country is more important than you being in power. You were handed a India that was peaceful and united, you have the duty to hand over it in better shape to us the yongsters, the 'tomorrow's leaders' of this country. Come together and more importantly Act together.

Jai Hind!
